Manufacturing Engineer Full time

About us:

beadedstream, inc. develops ruggedized data loggers and sensor systems for Arctic and harsh environment applications. Our products enable critical data collection in extreme conditions, where reliability and durability are paramount.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the transition of products from R&D into production. This hands-on role involves assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and process improvement of our data logger and sensor cable products. You will work closely with design engineers, assemblers, technicians, and contract manufacturers to develop your skills in manufacturing engineering while contributing to product quality and cost reduction initiatives.

What you will do:

Support Product Launches

  • Help develop work instructions and assembly documentation for new products
  • Assist with pilot production runs and document lessons learned
  • Support training of production staff on new assembly processes

Solve Quality Problems

  • Investigate production failures using troubleshooting tools, like multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Learn and apply root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, fishbone diagrams)
  • Document quality issues and help implement corrective actions

Manage Components & Suppliers

  • Work with suppliers to qualify alternate components and reduce supply chain risk
  • Read datasheets and identify equivalent parts for electronic and mechanical components
  • Communicate with contract manufacturers on prototype builds and component questions

Find Cost Savings

  • Analyze bills of materials (BOMs) to identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Track component costs and calculate savings from design or supplier changes
  • Collaborate with R&D to suggest lower-cost alternatives that maintain product performance

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience (internships and co-ops count)
  • Some hands-on experience with assembly or testing

Technical Skills

  • Comfortable using basic test equipment: multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation: BOMs, assembly drawings, and ECOs (engineering change orders)
  • Basic understanding of electronic components (resistors, capacitors, connectors, cables)
  • Proficiency with Excel for data analysis and cost tracking
  • Exposure to CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) is helpful

Problem-Solving Skills

  • Methodical approach to troubleshooting technical problems
  • Willingness to learn structured problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to document findings clearly and communicate with team members

Communication & Collaboration

  • Comfortable working with technicians, assemblers, and engineers from different disciplines
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in writing and verbally
  • Team player who asks questions and seeks guidance when needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with production testing or test fixture development
  • Exposure to quality systems (ISO 9001) or manufacturing process documentation
  • Familiarity with environmental testing (temperature, vibration, moisture)
  • Python programming skills for data analysis
  • Interest in outdoor, Arctic, or extreme environment applications

Work Environment

  • Hands-on role with significant time in lab and production areas (60-70% of time)
  • Occasional visits to local contract manufacturers may be required
  • Reports to Engineering Manager
  • Small team environment where your contributions make a direct impact

Full-Stack Software Engineer (Web) Full time

Synopsis:

beadedcloud enables the easy transformation of environmental data into insights. We build real-time systems aimed to answer real-world questions. Our technology is proven in the Arctic and deployed worldwide.

We are seeking a Full-stack developer starting in 2025 to augment our beadedcloud development team. You’ll be working on building the platform for delivering real-time forecasts, correlated datasets, and other automated analyses for our customers’ sites.

 

  • Salary is $90-$120k per year depending on experience.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Build user-friendly & valuable data experiences with historical, live, and forecasted data.
  • Work on the Full-Stack web development team and with the AI product team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a team lead & managing projects.
  • Proficient in GitHub, CI/CD, and version control best practices.
  • Demonstrated past experience building web applications.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid experience with at least one programming language (We use TypeScript but Ruby, Python, or Go translate well).
  • Fluent in at least one web application framework (Express, Rails, Django, etc).
  • Fluent in at least one modern frontend javascript framework (React, VueJs, etc).
  • Experience working with document store databases (Mongo) and SQL (Postgres).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terraform for configuring AWS infrastructure.
  • Document stores such as MongoDB or ElasticSearch.
  • Data visualization libraries or HighCharts.
  • React, Express, and Node & JS/TS.
  • Data pipelines to train and deploy AI/ML models.
